AMS CONNECT 2026 A Multidisciplinary Approach to Antimicrobial Stewardship in Medicine and Oncology

AMS CONNECT 2026 is an important academic conference aimed at improving how clinical pharmacists manage antibiotics by combining targeted treatments and new ideas in general medicine and cancer care. The Clinical Pharmacist Team at GKNM Hospital organizes the conference, supervised by Dr. Ragupathy Veluswamy, the CEO of GKNM Hospital, which will take place on Saturday, 31 January 2026, at the GKD Auditorium in Coimbatore.
The scientific program will start with a session on antimicrobial stewardship, led by Dr. Ganesh Perumal P, a Consultant Microbiologist, who will talk about how bacteria become resistant to antibiotics and what this means for their management. Then, there will be Dr. R. Bala Vinoth, a Consultant General Physician & Infectious Diseases Specialist, speaking on modern therapeutic approaches and clinical decision-making in complex multidrug-resistant infections.
Stress on the importance of pharmacists in influencing patient outcomes will be through Dr. Grace Marry John, Board Certified Infectious Disease Clinical Pharmacist, whose presentation will focus on clinical pharmacist-led interventions in PK/PD-mediated antimicrobial therapy for critically ill patients. Another important session by Dr. N. Ramesh, Consultant Pediatrician & Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist, will guide in identifying, understanding, and minimizing antimicrobial-related adverse drug events in clinical practice.
Giving an oncology perspective, Dr. L. Ajeitha, Consultant Hematologist, Oncologist, and Bone Marrow Transplant Specialist, will discuss optimizing antimicrobial use in patients undergoing hematology and bone marrow transplants.
