GKNM Neurology department provides state of an art facility for patients admitted with stroke. GKNM Stroke team is available 24*7 hours for immediate management of acute stroke. IV thrombolysis (drug therapy to dissolve the clot in the brain blood vessels) is performed for eligible patients with ischemic stroke of fewer than 4.5 hours on set. Mechanical thrombectomy (catheter-guided removal of a clot ) is performed by an interventional radiologist for Stroke Patients with major vessel occlusion. Emergency DSA (cerebral angiography) and coiling are done for patients with subarachnoid bleed due to rupture of the aneurysm. The stroke care provided by the GKNM neurology department is of world standard and updated according to scientific growth in stroke. Regular auditing is performed in the department to access the timely management of stroke. Neurology department also conducts regular Stroke Treatment awareness programs to create stroke awareness among people.
