G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, Coimbatore is organising ‘Run for Little Hearts’, an awareness run that is to be held on September 29th to aid children with heart defects and childhood cancers. September month being the Childhood cancer awareness month and September 29th being the World Heart Day, the marathon is scheduled to take place on Sunday 29th of September at 5:30 a.m. in Mani Higher Secondary School, Papanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore.

There are three different categories: 1 & 3 km for all age groups where children and families can run together. There is a 5 km run that is for people aged between 12 and 18 for boys & girls, and above 18 years for men and women. The last one is the 10 km category. It is for men and women who are above 18 years of age. Cash prizes worth Rs. 75,000 are announced for the winners in 5 and 10 km categories. The marathon is recognised and approved by Coimbatore District Athletic Association. The event is supported by LMW, Lakshmi Mills Co. Ltd and Lakshmi Card Clothing.

On 16th September 2024, the unveiling event of marathon T – Shirt and medal took place at GKNM Hospital premises in Coimbatore. During this event, Dr. Ragupathy Veluswamy, Chief Executive Officer, GKNMH said that in the previous edition of Run For Little Hearts – 2023, where 2000 members actively participated in marathon and 29 children with heart defects and childhood cancer, were benefited from the funds collected. Dr. Ragupathy Veluswamy also added that GKNM Hospital, a unit of KNC trust is pioneer in paediatric cardiac care and paediatric oncology in the city of Coimbatore. Our Paediatric Cardiac and Oncology unit is fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities with advanced technologies to treat our little ones.
