GKNM Hospital, a leading healthcare provider in the region, recently organized a comprehensive stroke awareness campaign at the Lakshmi Mills Urban Centre. The initiative aimed to educate the public about the risks, symptoms, and prevention of stroke, a major health concern that affects millions worldwide.

The initiative aimed to educate the public about the risks, symptoms, and prevention of stroke, a major health concern that affects millions worldwide.

In the event, GKNM Nursing Institute students performed an awareness activity on stroke and explained about the stroke and it’s symptoms with a human model. This year, 2024, the World Stroke Day Theme is “#GreaterThanStroke active challenge”. This theme leverages the emotional power of sport to raise awareness about stroke and encourage action on stroke prevention and rehabilitation. To make people actively participate in sports and physical activities, nursing students involved the people with a physical task and provided rewards to those completed it successfully. Also, the students performed an awareness dance signifying the symptoms and stiff actions needed to be taken for the same.

“Time is brain,” Recognizing the symptoms of stroke and seeking immediate medical attention can significantly improve outcomes. When stroke happens, it is important to reach stroke ready hospital as early or at least within 4.5 hours (golden hour) of the incident.
