Clinical Expertise

  • Trained adequately in the donor recruitment, donor screening, management of adverse donor reactions and post-donation counselling.
  • Immuno-hematology, including workup of patients with autoimmune hemolytic anemia, hemolytic disease of new born, blood grouping discrepancies and compatibility testing.
  • Trained in carrying out serological investigations for Transfusion Transmitted infection by manual and automated systems.
  • Quality control of blood components, reagents, TTI testing and cold chain maintenance.
  • Apheresis: Plateletpheresis for donors, Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), Therapeutic leukapheresis, Erythracytapheresis, Therapeutic Thrombocytapheresis and Stem cell pheresis.
  • Trained in decision making of blood component therapy and administration
  • Trained in blood administration in special settings like massive transfusion, exchange transfusion and also in identification, investigation and management of adverse transfusion reactions in patients.
  • Trained in hematopoetic stem cell harvest, administration and cryopreservation and blood component therapy.
  • Trained in basic techniques of hematology and coagulation, in the Department of Pathology, JIPMER
