The Raksha Hospice was inaugurated on 13th June 2001, by “His Holiness Sri. Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal” to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the G. Kuppusamy Naidu Memorial Hospital and its service to community. Since then, we have been providing high quality Palliative Care, free of charge for cancer patients living in Coimbatore and surrounding areas. The Hospice is a 15-bed unit where qualified medical personnel provide 24×7 care to terminally ill patients. Our services are underpinned by a respect for human dignity and care for the physical, psychosocial, spiritual and emotional needs of the total person, whatever their age, lifestyle, culture or spiritual belief.
Along with the inpatient and day-care services, we also offer a comprehensive home care service for patients with incurable and debilitating illness. The visiting Community Palliative Care team includes doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and counsellors. The aim of this service is to help patients and their family cope with care needs at their preferred place to enhance their comfort.
