  • The  patient has the right to be treated respectfully by all the employees of the hospital.  The individuality of the patient will be respected.
  • The patient has the right to receive the best care medically indicated for his/her problem regardless of race, religion,national origin or the source of payment for the service provided by the hospital.
  • The patient has the right to privacy.  He/she  can talk with the treating doctor/ nurse/administrative representative in private and the information given will not be overheared or be given to others without his/her knowledge.
  • While the patient is hospitalized, no outsiders are allowed to see the patient without his/her permission.
  • The patient  has the right to  privacy while he/she is undergoing a physical examination.
  • The patient has the right to expect confidentiality in handling his/her medical records by the medical team. Hospital records are private  and no persons or agency beyond those caring for the patient  and the  authorized statutory bodies are to have access to the medical records .
  • The patient is having all the right to seek and receive all the information necessary for understanding his/her medical condition.
  • He/she has  the right to know the name of the doctor who is responsible for his/her treatment and care and also to talk with that doctor and any others who are delivering the service.
  • The patient is entitled to know the probable diagnosis, planned course of treatment and the prognosis of the disease.
  • The patient has the right to ask the treating doctor or nurse any question that concerns  about his/her health condition.
  • The patient has the right to select his/her doctor and the treatment.  He/she has the right to say ”No”  to treatment (refusal of treatment) and ask for medical consultation or a second opinion on the medical condition, if he/she desires.
  • The patient has the right to leave the hospital even if it is against the advice of the treating doctor. In such a situation the hospital will not be responsible for any harm that may befall the patient.  The patient will be asked to sign a”Discharge Against Medical Advice” form.
  • The patient has all the right to understand and receive information of hospital bills on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the policies of the hospital.
  • The patient/the family/guardian has the right to tell the hospital authorities  when something is wrong in the delivery of the care and service.
  • The patient/family is entitled for personal dignity and privacy during  examination,procedures and treatment.
  • The patient/ family  has the right  not to undergo any physical abuse or neglect during examination and treatment.
  • The patient and family will be explained clearly and informed consent  will be obtained for the treatment and for the identified procedures (before anesthesia, blood and blood product transfusions and any invasive/ high risk procedures / treatment).
  • The patient has the right to be informed about the expected cost of treatment.  The tariff list/estimation of treatment cost is to be given when patient/attender requests for the same .
  • The patient and the family have  the right to express their grievances and complaints.
  • The patient will be informed before any research protocol is initiated and the patient got the right to refuse for the research protocol. This should not affect the patient's treatment.
  • The patient has the right to ask for equality of care and treatment.
  • The patient and the family are informed of their rights in a format and language  they can understand and the rights are documented.
  • The patient and the family have the right to be educated about the safe and effective use of medication and the potential side effects of  the medication.
  • The patient has the right to be educated about diet and nutrition.
  • The patient and family have the right to be educated about immunizations
  • The patient and family have the right to be educated about their specific disease process,complications and prevention strategies.
  • The patient and family are taught in a language and format  they can understand.
  •  The patient and family are educated about preventing infections.
  • The patient and family have the right to be informed about the financial implications when there is a change in the patient's condition or treatment setting
  • The patient and the family have the right to uniformity of pricing in a given setting ( inpatient and outpatient services).
